Anger is an emotion characterised by antagonism towards someone or something you feel has deliberately done you wrong. It can give you a way to express negative feelings, for example, or motivate you to find solutions to your problems. There are three types of anger which are passive aggression, open aggression and assertive anger. Passive aggression refers to individuals who do not admit that they are angry, and do not like confrontation. Open aggression refers to individuals who do not like to admit that they are angry, and assertive anger refers to individuals who can talk about the factors which caused their anger. All in all anger can be detrimental to others in society in terms of the way certain situations are handled, and it is one of the situations which psychologists deal with on a daily basis. In the broad world of psychology the first rule for clients is that they need to admit that they have a problem before they approach anyone for help in general. Psychologists provide strategies which clients can use to deal with the anger in the future due to bottled up feelings. From my academic knowledge I managed to generate a few strategies which individuals can use to overcome the issue of anger.
st strategy- Breathe in and out to make calm decisions.
nd strategy-Use a punching bag.
rd strategy- Use relaxing imagery (closing your eyes).
th strategy- Do not say things you do not mean.
th strategy- Do not jump to conclusions.
th strategy- Listen attentively.
th strategy- Do not get defensive.
th strategy- Use humour to change the atmosphere of conversations.
th strategy- Change the environment by moving away from things which could get you angry.
th strategy- Be easy on yourself.
Individuals should learn to open up and to talk about what bothers them, and to tell individuals who have wronged them about the way they feel to avoid anger which will result into negative energy that could possibly be shared amongst others in society.
