Rand Water warned Gauteng residents of the planned 54-hour water outage in the Gauteng province during a media statement which will occur on the 15th November and commence as early as five in the early hours of the morning. The cause of the water outage is due to the bulk water supplier working on their raw water pipe.

Certain areas in Johannesburg which will be affected for the planned hours of the water outage. Apparently there will be little to no water during this time. Rand Water will attempt to supply water tankers to the areas which are affected to lessen the bad impact it will have in communities since it has been mentioned before that a single household utilises approximately 25 litres a day, therefore we could say that it is impossible for numerous households to live without water. It was reported earlier for a reason obviously (residents are reminded to stock up on water and fill their buckets in preparation for the two-day outage).

The only areas which have been mentioned on Twitter on the City of Joburg page are Roodepoort/Randburg, Langlaate/Southdale, Soweto and JHB CBD areas for now. As the country is currently experiencing load shedding on a daily basis, electricity is another need for households. The report made by Rand Water might worry the lives of areas which are not privileged.
