Periods occurs approximately for a week or less and several women have complained about the pains which they experience when they go through their menstrual cycle monthly,but people around them mostly males do not know how to provide assistance for them to feel better.

The tricky part is that the periods occur internally and not externally,at the same time the extrinsic factors which cause the pain can be controlled.

Females should wear warm clothes,drink loads of water or any juice containing berries,or a cup of rooibos tea if the weather is not favourable,bath in warm salty water,change their pad every six to eight hours,take naps to rest,take prescribed painkillers and they should avoid intake of caffeine or spicy food.

Males on the other hand can give their significant other a massage or a gentle rub where the female is experiencing pain with the use of salf ointment,and try by all means not to irritate them since the hormones fluctuate during the menstrual cycle.

Lastly I recommend that ladies should try and workout when they are not experiencing periods to possibly alleviate period pains and to reduce the number of days they encounter periods.

Gynaecologists are also trained professionals who can provide adequate assistance in terms of helping females to track their unique period cycle, and to provide a brief explanation about the effects of contraceptives for instance.
